My Hallelujah Belongs to YOU Part 3: Prime the Pump for God’s Provision
By Dr. John Wallace

Introduction
Have you ever felt like you’re working hard but not seeing the abundance you desire—financially, spiritually, or emotionally? In this week’s message at Bible Center Church, we explored a powerful metaphor: “priming the pump.” Many of us consume what should be offered first to God, missing out on the deeper provision He longs to give. Through the lens of Malachi 3 and other key Scriptures, we unpacked why tithing is more than a money issue—it’s about worship, trust, and putting God first in every area of life.
The Main Point: God First—In Worship, In Stewardship
Just like an old water pump won’t draw water unless you pour in some “priming water,” our access to God’s deeper blessings often depends on whether we give Him our first and best. When we hold back—when we “drink the priming water” for ourselves—we remain stuck, unable to access the fullness God desires for us. As Malachi 3:10 urges, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse… Test me in this… and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”
This isn’t just about money. It’s about heart, priorities, and trust. God owns everything (Psalm 24:1, Haggai 2:8). The tithe is a practical way to put Him first, to acknowledge His ownership, and to trust His loving provision.
Action Steps: How to Put God First
Examine Your Priorities: Ask yourself: What do I put ahead of God? Is it money, career, family, or comfort? Remember, “You cannot serve both God and money” (Luke 16:13).
Trust God’s Heart: God is not trying to take from you, but to provide and protect you—like a loving Father. Every instruction is for your good.
Practice Tithing and Generosity: Start by giving God the first 10% of your income. If you struggle, start with what you can, and ask Him to help you grow in faith. The point is obedience and trust, not the exact number.
Communicate with Your Family: If you’re married or share finances, talk openly about money and giving. Pray together and make unified decisions about stewardship.
Seek Wise Stewardship: Review your budget, cut unnecessary expenses, and align your spending with God’s values. Sometimes, the issue isn’t lack of resources, but how we use them.
Remember God’s Promise: When you put God first, He promises to open the floodgates of heaven and protect what you have (Malachi 3:10-11).
Conclusion: Step Into God’s Overflow
The abundant life God offers isn’t about material riches, but about fullness—peace, joy, purpose, and provision. When we prime the pump by giving God our first and best, we align with His heart and unlock blessings that overflow into every area of life.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,Thank You for being a loving and generous God who desires the very best for Your children. Help us trust You with our hearts, our resources, and our priorities. Teach us to give You our first and best, knowing that You will provide for all our needs. Remove any fear or idolatry from our hearts and draw us deeper into Your love. May our worship and stewardship honor You, and may Your blessing overflow in our lives, our families, and our community. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
